Overnight Respite Support Needs
Overnight respite is required to provide a safe and supportive environment while allowing the primary carer to rest and maintain their capacity to continue in their caring role.
During overnight stays, the participant requires:
- Supervision for safety due to [e.g. mobility issues / behaviours of concern / medical needs]
- Assistance with toileting and personal care as needed
- Monitoring throughout the night, including responding to waking or distress
- Support with bedtime and morning routines
Overnight respite also provides the participant with opportunities to:
- Build independence in a supported setting
- Engage in social and community-based activities
- Develop routines outside the home environment
